Chapter 9: Saving and Loading From Disk
Page 159
• The Disk, Size, and Free fields:
These fields have the same functions as in the Save Sequence screen
described above.
• The <Do it> soft key:
Press this key to save the file to disk.
• The <Select disk> soft key:
This soft key only appears if your MPC60 contains a Marion Systems
MPC-SCSI interface and a hard disk is connected to its SCSI port. It has
the same function as in the Save Sequence screen described above.
COMMENT: The maximum sound size that will fit on one floppy
disk is 13.1 seconds mono or 6.5 seconds stereo. If you save a
sound that is larger than this to floppy, the MPC60 will
automatically save it as two “split” sound files, each of which fits
on a single disk. The first part has “{1}” added to the end of the
sound name and has a file size of 773K. The second part has
“{2}” added to the end of the sound name and contains the
remaining portion of the sound. When part 1 is reloaded, the
MPC60 will prompt you afterwards to insert the disk containing
the associated part 2 file. The part 2 file cannot be loaded by
itself. Also, to load one of these two-part “split” MPC60 sound
files into an MPC3000, the MPC3000 must be running software
version 3.12 or higher, available from Roger Linn Design.
Saving a PGM File (Single Program & Sounds)
To save a single program and all sounds used by that program, select 4
(A program) from the DISK key menu. The following screen will appear:
========= Save a Program (PGM) =========
Program:19-Program name Size: 0K
Disk:SCSI DISK PART A Free: 793K
Save:PROGRAM+SOUNDS (NORMAL)
Replace same sounds on disk:NO (FASTER)
========================================
<Do it> <Select disk>
Saving a program involves two steps, which occur automatically when
<Do it> is pressed:
1. The Program file that contains all program data, including the names
of all sounds used by the program (but not the sound data itself), is
saved.
